Surprised by a Crystal Forest

It snowed. The kind of snow that drifts and swirls. Tiny flakes soon accumulated making a blanket of white several inches deep. I took a few photos with my macro lens. Looking over the shots, I found I had taken photos of a minature forest. Some of the crystals twinkled like stars in a soft mist that almost hid the trees.

The Crystal Forest

I really enjoy viewing the miniature world.

Why do burrs stick to fur?

Walking with the dog today, we were in the fields at Sibbald Point Park. Sidney found some burrs. After pulling them off her coat, I had a chance to take a few photos with my Macro lens.

Can a burr look soft?

I love the little hooks on the spikes

Using a macro lens, gives me a closer look at why a burr sticks to everything.

I was careful so nothing stuck to me.

Natures Ice Carving

I took this photo of a piece of ice. There are  a few flowers delicately carved by the hand of God into the ice. The colour is the sunset shining gloriously in the background. I cropped one of the photos of ice I posted yesterday. It is actually, the piece I am using for the header image. There is beauty is all around us, even in a cold piece of ice. Look closely or you may miss it.

Snowflakes melt fast.

I tried my new macro lens the other day. It started to snow and I tried to capture the flakes. The weather however, was not cold enough. The flakes were melting quickly. Here are my first attempts at capturing snow in the lens. I know others have succeeded with  beautiful images. This is my start.

Raindrops for Macro Monday

The other day we had a little bit of snow in the morning, it soon cleared and the snow melted leaving drops on some bushes in my front yard. I grabbed my camera and took a few photos with the Macro lens. More practice.

What do you think of black and white?

Macro Monday

I recently purchased a Nikon Macro lens and I am having fun with it. I need to learn the best ways of using it. Any tips and suggestions would be appreciated. I am not offended by constructive criticism.

Macro Photography makes me look for details

Sidney gazing longingly into the back yard, looking for those intruding squirrels. The beauty of the eye is amazing. .

This bush is along my front sidewalk. I love the colours in the evening light.
