The other sunset, which will be forever vivid in my mind happened earlier this summer. We were driving along the Dempster Highway heading to the remote village of Inuvik in Canada’s far north. After midnight the sunset began and lasted for a very long time. We pulled over and watched the spectacle with our mouths open. This was the first “midnight sunset” I have ever seen.

the colours lingered in the sky for a very long time after the sun set because we were north of the Arctic Circle.

Lovely cloudscapes 🙂
One of the best interpretations in my list. Great job, Ms. Maggie. I like that duck (or swan) at the center of the second photo. It’s so cool to have her there.

wonderful images. i read a comment somewhere some time ago that your photos are always a treat however i was unable to find your blog at the time. so am very happy to see some of your work. the comment was not overrated! thanks for sharing.
Thank you so very much for your kind words. I am pleased you enjoy my work.
Beautiful and calming photos. I would love to see the sky over the Arctic, must be breath taking. I don’t remember much about living in Canada, (where I was born) but my mother has told me about the looonnng winter nights, and the feeling when spring finally came.
Wow, I love this collection! Could the water in the second photo be any smoother?! Goodness. 🙂

Nice collection of photos 🙂
Love those top two ~ it’s wonderful to see nature appreciating nature. 😀
She was so focused, I don’t think she cared about us at all.

The last picture does look like the sky is on fire. Breathtakingly beautiful. The duck on the water is a serene vision. Love the photos and the flow of words. Thanks for one wonderful sunset.

Midnight sun-wow!
I like the movement outwards from the close up of the basking bird to the panoramic landscape. Unfortunately I did not manage to see a midnight sunset during my time in Canada. Maybe one day.
pretty
very nice!
